Early
History of Egypt 3100-1200BC.
[ send
me this paper ]
(3 pp). Archaeological evidence suggests that, Egypt was
inhabited by hunters over 250,000 years ago when the
region was a green grassland. The Paleolithic period
around 25,000BC brought climatic changes, which turned
Egypt into a desert. Desertification of Egypt was halted
by rains, which allowed communities of cultivators to
settle in Middle Egypt and the Nile Delta. Throughout most
of its pre-dynastic history Egypt encompassed a
multiplicity of settlements, which gradually became small
tribal kingdoms. These kingdoms evolved into two loosely
confederated states: one encompassed the Nile valley up to
the Delta (with the Naqada dominating) with Hierakonpolis
as capital, represented by the deities Seth and White
Crown; the other encompassed the Delta, with Buto as its
capital and represented by the deities Horus and Red
Crown. The two kingdoms vied for power over all the land
of Egypt. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

The
Gnostics.
[ send
me this paper ]
(7 pp) Knowledge has always fascinated Man, his curious
nature prods him to seek it, often only to find out that
he lacks the virtue to use it. In a very true sense,
knowledge is in fact, power; this seems to be an
unalterable constant whether in the ancient world or
today. What we are about to investigate in this article is
the "Gnostic" religion. Their appeal is a simple
one. In a turbulent and unpredictable ancient world, at a
time when Man felt that he was but a puppet in the hands
of fortune, the Gnostics proclaimed aloud: "Come to
us and we will enlighten you with Knowledge that will give
you the power to be in charge of your destiny!"

The
Goddess, Women’s Roles, and the Patriarchy
[ send
me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses the fact that stories and

life is related to and dependent on that which creates and
sustains life. Eventually invasions from north to south
and changes in male perceptions about procreation, caused
the mother-goddess to be replaced by gods of war and the
patriarchal system. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
